Home Frequently Asked Questions Guide

Q: I have the problem that VR never got the guide, pauses and says 'aquiring sattelite" and fails. At the same time it launched (used to) Prog, which would work and show some channel.
A:
It could be one of the following:
1. ProgDVB not running.
2. In ProgDVB>Settings>Module list EPG option is checked and Stream Redirector unchecked. It should be reversed.
3. Missing StreamRedirect.module in ProgDVB\Modules folder
Q: Thank you for a good program!
Almost everything works perfect except that the program do not show any Channel name (the second column beside channel number) in The TV Guide. Any ideas what's wrong?

A:

That is something user has to do himself.
I am not in Europe and I do not know well your providers and channel names.
You have to create your own channel list.
How to do it:
1. In VR setup window click on TV Guide tab.
2. Select 'Show channel name option'
3. Click on 'Sample list' button or read below:

Channel name list format:

<5 letters channel name>,<channel number>

Example:
NBCHD,260
ABCHD,261
CBSHD,262
FOXHD,263
PBSHD,264
CTYHD,265
CTVHD,266
ABCHW,267
CBSHW,268
FOXHW,269
PBSHW,270

Channel list name file name format:
<provider NID number>_chan.txt

Example:
Premiere NID number is 133 so the channel list name file should be: 133_chan.txt
Note:
Provider NID number is displayed at the bottom of that column, by placing mouse cursor over channel number or can be found at: http://www.lyngsat.com/

Q: Is it possible to display the guide on TV?
Looks good on the PC screen but I would like to be fully remote and just control from the TV.

A:
TV Guide is not OSD so you cannot have it together with the picture.
But you can display the same way you can display Windows desktop on TV screen, using your video card TV output.
TV Guide let you select the bigger font size to be easy readable on screen.
Q: I got vremote to work with my progdvb (4.26) and everything was fine
I had to clean the hard drive and reinstall everything again
Now my problem is when I try to change channels through vremote there is a small pause on progdvb as if it wants to change but channels don't change.
Also I can command the channels to record also through VT , but some channels the recording red ball states it is recording but when I look at the file it states 0 meg.
Yes epg is unchecked and stream is checked. And progdvb does start w/ last channel recalled
Can you tell me what I might be missing?

A:
Changing channels problem is not with VR.
VR will only change the channels existing in ProgDVB active folder.
To make sure that you can change all channels from within TV Guide you need to create in ProgDVB one common folder grouping all channels from several satellite signal providers.
To do that:
1. In ProgDVB click on Channel list menu and select New from pulldown menu.
2. Copy and paste into new folder contents of 110 and 119 satellite folders.
3. Mouse right click on new channel list and select 'Channel list property' from pulldown menu.
4. Select:
                Type: Dynamic
                Show Channel number
                Group by: None
                Sort: By number
5. Click OK
6. In Edit select Reindex channels numbers by SID
7. repeat 3. above
8. rename new folder to whatever you wish.
Q: Is their a way to just get channel data from just the 119 and 110 sat and eliminate the other channels that are listed for the other sats.
A:
1. In Options>TV Guide place the check mark on:
Filter out selected providers
2. Create text file named DishNet_filter.txt and save it in \Data subdirectory
3. List satellites you do not want by their NID number, each in separate line.
For example:
4098
4105
4107
